Abstract

The article considers the collaboration between N.P. Likhachev and Bibliograf, a journal published by N.M. Lisovsky, based on correspondence stored in the Manuscript Department of the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The journal styled itself as a publication not just a bibliographic, but also a historical profile. On its pages published the works such the prominent historians as S.F. Platonov, A.S. Lappo-Danilevsky, E.F. Shmurlo, etc. N.P. Likhachev came into contact with N.M. Lisovsky in 1892, determined to publish an “anti-criticism” on E.F. Shmurlo’s review of the book “Paper and the Oldest Paper Mills in the Moscow State”. After publishing his response to the review, N.P. Likhachev presented a programme of possible publications in Bibliograf, which was only partially implemented. In total, five articles by N.P. Likhachev appeared in N.M. Lisovsky’s journal for 1892–1893, the most significant of which was an extensive book review “The New Genealogy of the Princes Golitsyn”. In the correspondence between the author and the editor were discussed the terms of cooperation, details of the preparation of individual publications, proofreading comments, etc. N.M. Lisovsky encouraged N.P. Likhachev in every possible way to publish in his edition. The latter, in turn, closely monitored proofreading and carefully tracked the observance of his material interests, insistently demanding the individual reprints of articles and copies of the journal be sent. The published correspondence gives an idea of N.P. Likhachev’s scientific interests in the period after defending his doctoral dissertation, the formation of his way of working with scientific periodicals.
