Abstract

The article is based on the examination of Frankish early medieval manuscripts from the collection of the Russian National Library, taking into account the results of modern research in foreign literature, using critical analysis and veri cation of these results. It is emphasized that using the example of the corpus of manuscripts from the Corbian scriptorium, one can not only study the tradition of using this type of writing in this writing center, but also trace the path of consolidating the type of medieval writing - half-uncial script as a certain type in the hierarchy of types of book writing during the V - end of the VIII centuries
