The publication is a translation of an autograph kept in the National Library of Russia in the Department of Manuscripts, the collection of Peter Dubrovsky. The letter from the French Huguenot leader, Governor of Saumur, Philippe Du Plessis-Mornay to the Duke of Bouillon, was written in the period of the Rebellion of the Grandees led by the Prince of Condé and King Louis XIII and Regent Marie de Médicis' visit to Tours. The letter addresses the main events of this period: the Treaty of Saint-Menoux, the Reformed Churches National Synod in Tonneins, the election of the mayor of Poitiers, where Prince of Condé took an active part, the preparation of the General Assembly of French Calvinists and preparations for the General Estates of 1614. The author of the letter expresses concern about the state of French Calvinists, their involvement in the process of making political decisions, and their relations with the royal power. The publication shows complex relations within the Calvinist party, as well as ideological con icts among church representatives. One of Du Plessis-Mornay's motives for writing the letter is his wish that the Duke of Bouillon assists in the reconciliation of the famous preachers Daniel Tilenius and Pierre Du Moulin
